I love kids! I have worked with a wide variety of ages, but most of my experience has been teaching children ages 2-6 years of age.. Young children have such a wonderfuly exuberant curiosity about the world we live in, and I enjoy facilitating their navigation through that world. I was a teacher with the Solana Beach School District Child Development Center for 12 years. There I worked in a variety of classrooms. I was a teacher in a toddler classroom for two years, a three year old classroom for four years, and then moved on to Pre-K where I stayed for the remainder of my years at the child development center. As a Pre-K teacher, I was provided the opportunity to collaborate with the Kindergarten teachers . That experience gave me insight on how to best prepare my students for their next educational milestone. I also had the pleasure Read more of teaching in a Special Needs classroom. Here I learned that children learn in many different ways, and it was my job as a teacher to find how best to facilitate learning for all children. Each child is unique and has their own developmental strengths and challenges . I feel that my role as a teacher/babysitter is to guide a child's development by providing them with engaging and fun experiences. My philosophy is to provide opportunities where children are able to discover the world around them through their own interests and needs, and then using those needs and interests to create an enriching and fun learning environment. I do also believe that structure is important and that it is essential to help children stay focused and gain confidence in their own abilities. I retired from teaching four years ago to help my husband run his business and I am enjoying my new role , but I do miss working with kids. My son is now 24 and can't fill that void for me anymore! So, if your looking for someone with a great deal of experience and that genuinely loves children, then you found the right person. From facilitating learning to just having some fun playing, I can help support the needs of your family.
