Hi there! My name is Kayla and I have been an educator over the past seven years. While I have loved teaching, I experienced some burnout last year and felt the need to take a break from being in the classroom everyday, and am looking for some part time babysitting jobs. Over the past seven years, I have gained experience working with children in a variety of settings, including: Waldorf inspired, project based, and child centered programs, indoor and outdoor preschools, sports programs, tutoring centers, and camps. I have also worked as a long term nanny, babysitter, driver, family assistant, and more. At the beginning of my teaching journey, I attended the University of San Francisco and obtained a B.A. in Sociology with Honors while working as a preschool sports coach and preschool teacher. Additionally, using intersectional analysis methodologies, I wrote my senior thesis about children’s understandings of gender constructions Read more within preschools. Upon graduation, I worked as a nonprofit administrator and head coach for a childrens soccer club. In this position, I coached multiple K-12th grade teams, led a group of 10-15 coaches/staff members, and supported club operations. In both my work with children and adult staff, I used person-centered empowerment methods to create leadership opportunities for all. As a current member of the club’s Board of Directors, I have continued to help create policies and procedures that uphold these values. In my last position, I was a kindergarten teacher, assistant director, and curriculum builder for a Waldorf inspired homeschool program in Woodside. In this project, I felt so inspired to use my previous experiences and build a very tailored program that fit the needs of each child. In this role, I have truly learned how to encourage and assist children in leading their own education, and in response, develop curriculum that supports these emerging interests. Being a teacher that can mentor and foster children’s passion to explore and find their own sources of joy happiness, and curiosity was a beautiful experience. I believe that my skills, passion, and experience would allow me to take care of your children with the utmost care.
