I like working with kids because the are the most authentic versions of the human experience. They just want people to understand, validate, and respect their ways of communicating and feeling (don't we all!). While we as adults are here to guide them in understanding themselves and their needs better, we are not here to treat them as blank canvases in which we dictate the story. I started working with kids when I was in high school! I volunteered my time with the nursery at the gym I worked at. The ages ranged from 3 months to 12 years. It was there I found my passion for health and development. After that experience, I took several classes in college focusing on nutrition, maternal/child/ adolescent health, development across the lifespan. After I graduated, I even worked in pediatric hematology. Since my background is in healthcare, I hold current certificates in BLS Read more and fire safety. I look for jobs that are easily accessible by public transportation as I do not have a car.
