A little bit about me is that I’ve always been around kids and involved myself in activities with children. Growing up, I was the oldest grandchild and always took charge over my cousins and carried this over protection over my loved ones. There has always been an interest working with kids and such a rewarding factor when channeling through an experience with children. I used to be a dance instructor and work at a studio with children of all ages along with disabilities. In my experience working with kids, it has opened my eyes and made me realize that every kid needs someone. One person to know that they’re heard, acknowledge and accepted. I feel often times kids produce so much knowledge and thoughts and when contained there is a lot of frustration and rage pent up that is resulted to lashing out and blowing up all in their own. Read more I find that there are approaches to things that can be handled differently and effectively that be redirected. This coming from anywhere and being able to navigate that will a child is easier said than done, however, I believe that approaching children in a way best suited to them is one thing that personalizes interaction and encounters with children that leaves an affect on them to know they’re okay and what they’re feeling are completely valid. That being said, I love working with kids because of how much we can learn from them without realizing it. We teach each other things that help better our lives in communication with kids. I feel from taking this approach of being open just like how I’d like the energy to be reciprocated, it should be a safe one and I think once children feel safe with you and it can be a bit better on both ends and a level of trust can be built from. I’d like to say what sets me apart from others is that trust and safety are huge ones for me especially as a babysitter working with young minds. I consider both environments and make sure that both is reassured and aware that I am someone, whoever I am looking after is well with me and my place in their lives. I feel it’s very important to be as attentive as we can to kids since we are who they look up to and who they learn from. Children are very fragile and are heavily influenced by their surroundings and by peers and I think it’s essential to be mindful of that and how delicate they pick up on things as well as what sticks to them.
