Hello! My name is Mariel Temesi, a passionate and compassionate nanny with experience in teaching 3rd-12th grade, babysitting, and child psychology. I just moved to Austin from Bay Area, CA and am working towards receiving my master's degree in counseling (hoping to achieve my License as a Marriage, Family Therapist) so that I can work with kiddos through play therapy and child development! I have always considered myself a natural caregiver since childhood, babysitting my neighborhood babies and toddlers at age 12-16, and taking care of another family during the summers for 4 years ( children aged 8 and 13). When I graduated from college, I transitioned into teaching, preparing curriculum, and teaching after-school writing classes for kids aged 6-13, then educating middle school students with life skills and art classes, and moving to teaching high school students theater and art. When the school year finished in June, I would Read more fill my time teaching a writing camp for 7-13-year-olds where they got to explore their creativity with stories! Currently, I work as a case manager for disabled unhoused families, providing support to every aspect of my clients' lives; helping to cook in-home meals, providing resources to child care, working through a financial plan, teaching the kids to read, working with the adults on resume building, and so much more. My hobbies: something I love talking about way too much! Every Tuesday and Thursday, I participate in Jujitsu at my local dojo, learning self-defense and empowerment. When I'm not tumbling on the mat, I love making my famous kale, sausage, and potato soup and cuddling up with a good book by candlelight (currently I am reading The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog by Bruce Perry). On the weekends, I kayak with my partner on Lady Bird Lake and sing opera to the birds that go by ( classically trained in opera and piano!).
