Hi! My names Josey and I’m a local here in Santa Cruz. I am attending Cabrillo as an Early Childhood Education Major. I am working towards my associates degree and teaching certification. I have received my anti bias certification as well as my certification for working with diverse families. In middle school and high school I did babysitting off and on for family friends. I did volunteer work with Cowells junior guards as a captain. The captains help the instructors with the junior guards (ages 5-12). Before I was able to work with the children I was certified in CPR and AED. My first job was as a lifeguard at Simpkins Family Swim Center for 2 years. I was certified in lifeguard training, first aid, CPR and AED. I taught swim lessons, all ages but mostly ages 2-8. Toddlers are so much fun! I also did child care and little Read more guards. Little guards and swim lessons were really fun because I got to know the children. By the end of the sessions we would be laughing and playing around together. I worked with Head Start as a part time teachers assistant. Prior to being part time, I was working on call. I have had the opportunity to work with children from 6 months - 6 years with Head Start. After leaving head start I worked at Coastal Community Preschool in the toddler classroom. I sometimes return to the school as a sub. I am currently babysitting while I plan my move to France! I should be in the Santa Cruz area until about July 2024. I was recently re-certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid. I have completed my Title 22 requirements for working with children. I completed a background check with Head Start, Cabrillo, and Coastal Communities but it does not show on SitterCity. Please ask to see my credentials! I am happy to provide you with any documentation that you would like. I look forwards to meeting you and your children.

Josey is outstanding! She took care of my 11 month old for the day, came prepared, asked the right questions, immediately connected with the baby, and handled naps and mealtime very capably. She's smart, thoughtful, and did nice little things like recommend places in the area (we are new to the area) and comment on the baby's mood and things when we did handoff. I am super excited to hire Josey again and would absolutely hire her as a nanny!
