Hi! I’d like to start by sharing some of my background in childcare and education. I started babysitting when I was 8 years old. I’ve been working professionally with children since I was 12 years old! My first job was at a summer art camp for kids ages 5-8. Although I was only 12, I was hired as a co-teacher. I helped prepare art centered curriculum and cared for 4 children at a time. I guided them in their art projects and encouraged them to explore their creativity to the fullest. We would take them to the park everyday and made sure they got an appropriate amount of daily exercise and nutrition. When I was 18, I worked at a childcare center at the YMCA. There, I cared for kids aged 6 months to 12 years old. I played with them, read to them and guided them in various art Read more projects I created for them to engage in. For the past 7 years I have been an after school enrichment course assistant (for my mom who has been a teacher for 29 years) at Grant Elementary School teaching Art and Spanish classes. I am currently the lead teacher for one of these enrichment courses teaching Spanish to Kindergartens. Now I’ll tell you a little about myself :) I’m incredibly passionate about children and cultivating their curiosity and love for the world around them. I am the oldest of 14 cousins, all of whom I am fortunate enough to be extraordinarily close with. I’ve been around babies and children all my life. Watching them grow and find their interests and personalities is such a joy for me. I am very passionate about art in all its forms. Art is something that has always been a big part of my life. I’ve been drawing and paining since i was a baby and started doing musical theater at 4 years old. I believe art is the ultimate form of connection! I am also passionate about mental health. I love helping implement healthy self esteem and the ability to identify and regulate emotions in young children. I believe teaching kids healthy coping skills while they’re still young is a crucial component of their psychological and emotional development. Social activism is also a big part of my life. The main subjects I’m focusing on right now are animal rights and environmentalism but have a passion for all forms of activism. I have a love for all sentient beings and our planet! I believe the next generation is going to be exceptionally powerful and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish on top of the foundations my generation is working on building :)
