We had been very happy with Crystal until recently. She was one of our best sitters - she cared for our 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old children for 2 years. We originally hired her as a temporary sitter to cover a month while we waited for our live-in au pair to arrive, but we ended up using her on a regular weekly basis for the two years. In her last month, she has become unreliable and unprofessional. She has cancelled on us with short or hardly any notice. She cancelled us for a whole week with short notice. She texted she had to tend to "a family emergency but everyone is alive and I'll contact you when I get back". Most recently she was scheduled to work but cancelled four hours before her shift claiming she was sick. We ended up having to rearrange our schedule which resulted in our supplemental babysitting needs changing and cutting her hours for the week. Then with less than 24 hours notice of working her next weekly shift, she emailed me her resignation effective immediately. I am disappointed at her behavior as she had been treated as part of our family. But what's most disappointing her sudden resignation. Crystal was my son's favorite babysitter and he had a close bond with her. Never mind that she left us in a bad situation, but she didn't even say good bye to the kids. Her heartlessness and unprofessionalism are reasons I cannot recommend her as a caregiver.
