Hi!! My name is Jennifer, and I am a single mom of 2 boys, ages 19 and 22. I have been keeping my eyes and ears open for a position that would allow me to continue doing what I love (being around children)!! I love being outdoors whenever possible and was always at the park or taking walks with my boys when they were growing up!! My favorite part, if picked for this position, would be the ability to be an integral part of the children’s development. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a child grow and progress while in my care. Previously I was in the medical field, beginning as a certified nursing assistant while attending classes at Front Range University during my senior year of high school and my last position title was the office manager at an occupational medicine clinic which consisted of supervising 4 physicians, 2 physical therapists, and 2 medical assistants. I loved working with patients and got the opportunity to explore and gain knowledge in several different areas, which included both front and back-office experience. Unfortunately, 12 years ago I had surgery where the Surgeon nicked my intestine causing me to become septic and extremely sick. Since that surgery I’ve had to have 47 additional surgeries, making it not possible to return to work as I was constantly either in surgery or in recovery. Luckily, I’ve only had to have 2 surgeries in the past 3 years and the recovery time has only kept me out of commission fully for a week. I don’t have any restrictions other than lifting heavy items repeatedly. I started taking online classes to continue working towards my degree in human services with a concentration in substance abuse, and although I may ask to bring my schoolwork to work on if time permits, I am not physically in class and do not have to work on schoolwork throughout the day. I have intermittently taken nanny positions for the past 4 years, watching infants and children of families nearby. Ages range anywhere from 3 months to 14 years old, including a 3-year-old child with special needs. I have a lot of experience not only with raising my own children but am proud to provide the same amount of love and care for other families while their children are under my supervision. about me . . . I have been working with children in different capacities for at least 40 years. I began by babysitting small children of the parents in our church. Approximately the same time I began volunteering in the Totally Mentally Handicapped classroom at the high school I attended. And no, they do not call it that any longer. We have come a long way in research, terminology, and especially teaching strategies since those days. I am sad about some of those changes and others I am extatic about.
