Hello, my name is Ashley! I am a university student in KCMO but I am originally from Colorado & am here for the summer. I’m pursuing a major in Psychology and hope to be a Mental Health therapist for kids & teens in the future. Over the past 6 years, I have cared for numerous children of different ages from various families, always striving to create nurturing, safe environments in a few ways: 1) playing with them and allowing them to choose what we do; when they start to venture into play activities that may not be the greatest, I turn to reading stories and crafts often, but I always give options, usually including playing with their toys 2) making sure to tidy up throughout the time I’m there and I encourage the kids to clean up after themselves before moving onto a new activity 3) helping and encouraging older Read more kids with their homework and school projects 4) preparing meals for children and, for younger ones, cut foods into bite-sized pieces …and more! The biggest thing for me is building a relationship with the kids and I hope they enjoy our time together. I have a lot of experience with kiddos around your kids’ ages— this aspect has mostly come from my babysitting experience in high school. I was a regular “childcare taker” for a few families in my mountain town since I was in middle school. But I was a consistent sitter for one family throughout all of high school & I would be happy to provide her number as a reference if you’d like, she’s absolutely great :)) her little girl was about 8-months-old & her son was 4 (I believe!) when I started taking care of them! I also have experience with nannying!! This past summer I was a “camp counselor” for a summer camp. Which meant I drove up to six 11-14 year olds to different activities (and participated with them in some!!) which was a really great experience! I strive to develop lasting and professional relationships with families, by encouraging open communication and delivering positive feedback.
