Hello! My name is Shawna Turner. I'm 19 years old and currently attend Grossmont College. I am majoring in Culinary Arts, but I am also looking to add another degree. I truly enjoy watching kids. I’ve watched my cousins’ kids and my little brother, and I am always playing with them every time I get the chance. My little brother is now 11 years old, and he has Aspergers (high functioning Autism). I can handle his issues with patience and understanding while still managing to get along well with him. We are able to enjoy many quality moments with tons of fun and laughter. When I am watching older kids I always try to play board games, video games, play pretend, make things with clay, paint different objects or pictures, color pictures with crayons or markers etc, and occasionally baking (if the child is responsible and old enough). My cousins’ kids Read more are all younger and enjoy a different variety of activities. They enjoy funny noises, drums, mirrors, songs (singing), peek-a-boo, and books. These are things I would do or use with babies in the cradle roll class I help with.  I am an ambitious and hardworking individual. I’m willing to learn new things and love a challenge. I am well organized and am able to multitask. I get along well with others and always give my best. *I am proficient in American Sign Language *I have taken a child development class *I’m CPR/First Aid certified
