I have a passion for teaching small people how to interact with this big, wide world and observing and gently assisting them while they master skills from holding up their heads to learning how to drive. I have been taking care of kiddos since I was, myself, a little kid. I come from a fairly large family of four girls and I am the second oldest, so helping with diaper changes, feedings, playing with and teaching small children has been ingrained in me. I started babysitting in my teenage years and I have continued to sit and nanny for families through to today. I had the opportunity to teach preschool for about 2 1/2 years in my early twenties, while living in Crested Butte, CO. I assisted with the "teenies" as we called them-from 6 months to 4 years old. I had class sizes ranging from one-on-one up to six Read more at a time on my own, depending on the ages and levels of independence of the children. I took some early childhood development and early learning classes during my much-loved time there, while those completions are no longer up-to-date, the knowledge gained with that kind of experience never goes away. While I was still in high school, I worked as an in home care provider for adults with physical and developmental disabilities. My title was "direct support staff" which included everything from bathing and changing to housekeeping and meal prep as well as planning and executing engaging outings for people with differing levels of independence and abilities. I dedicated most of my time there to one house of four lovely roommates, and with exceptions of holidays, birthdays or other such gatherings I was always the solo care provider while on shift. Occasionally, I would also take an overnight shift there at the house, as the roommates were in need of support 24 hours a day. During that time I was certified to pass medications as well as drive company vehicles or the house van. I am up-to-date with a certification in infant as well as adult first aid and CPR. I am also a licensed massage therapist and I have been practicing for the last nine years.
