My name is Vesta Bortey-fio and I am eager to work in a position that enables me to use the skills I have acquired through my work experiences. I attended Delaware State University and majored in Social Work. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish my last year due to financial hardships. However, I am working towards completing my undergrad, obtain my Masters and pursue a career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My free time is spent volunteering and working within my community. I moved back to Connecticut after completing a year of service with the Texas Episcopal Service Corps. I was a Program Fellow, which involved community outreach with faith communities, marketing and social media and I also worked part-time working with Autistic and special needs children and teens at Christ Church Cathedral. Before this I worked at St. Vincent’s Special Needs for a total of three years. I Read more was able to hold 2 different positions in this department. One being an Educational Assistant at the Feroleto School For Special Needs and the other as a Direct Care Counselor at their children and teens group home for children with special needs. I have had the opportunity to build my career in a variety of roles and industries, which makes me a wonderful candidate for this position. I am currently leading several service projects within my community, lending support to Bridgeport’s and Norwalk’s homeless population. I have engaged in outreach projects and have been in charge of programs while serving with Community HealthCorps , Texas Episcopal Service Corps , as well as Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston as their Program Fellow. My duties as Program Fellow was to manage all Interfaith programs which included, educational curriculums and to serve as support for other programs including youth, social media, marketing and building relationships with faith communities and congregations. While working part-time at Christ Church Cathedral as a Special Needs Caregiver, I was able to adapt, thrive and enhance the cathedral’s very unique program that serves special needs children and their families, providing a safe , religious and loving educational space for Autistic and special needs children. The skills and compassion I acquired as an Educational Assistant and Direct Care Counselor at St. Vincent’s allowed me to better serve these families. I am an efficient hard worker and I have the desire and passion to work with people. Available to start work March 28, 2016
