Hila applied for our nanny job. She babysat for us and it went well, so we offered her the nanny job. After some negotiation, she accepted our offer and we ended our search. After this, we stayed in regular contact with her to discuss different logistics. One week before she was about to start, Hila informed us that she had decided to take a different job. We were not given any indication that she was looking, any warning or any opportunity for a counteroffer. We were very surprised and left in a difficult position of scrambling to find full time childcare for our newborn with just one week left.
