I began babysitting at age 13 by caring for younger relatives and neighbors. My responsibilities included getting kids off the bus, fixing a snack for them, and helping with homework. As I grew older, in addition to afternoon weekday shifts, I began babysitting weekend nights as well and my resposibilities gained diaper changing, fixing basic dinners, bath time, putting kids to bed, and driving kids to activities. I began working as a camp counselor at age 15, primarily with kids ages 4-6, but more recently with kids ages 6-15. Working as a camp counselor provided me with a lot of additional childcare experience and I received babysitting opportunities through this work as well. I have babysat for children with Autism and with Downsyndrome and as an occupational therapy major, I have had fieldwork experience with a variety of developmentally and physcially disabled children.
