I am currently a senior enrolled in the Comprehensive Special Education program in the Neag School of Education at UConn. Before transferring to UConn, I attended Endicott College where I completed two internships in a first grade classroom, each a month long. During my time at Endicott, I also had the opportunity to be a literacy partner in a third grade classroom. I have been working with kids outside of school for many years; whether it be through babysitting or at summer camps. I started pursuing my interest during high school when I chose to be a teacher's assistant during my free period. I then decided to go to YMCA Camp Mohawk to be a counselor in training for a month. Throughout middle and some high school i babysat for a family of three. For the past three summers I have been working at YMCA Camp Tepee. I have been Read more a counselor for two of the three years for seven/eight year olds and also for middle schoolers. For the past two summers I was given a more prominent position as a unit director. I have directed both 3/4 years olds and 7/8 year olds. I am also an approved alternate camp director by the state of CT. Working with children is not an easy job and definitely not fit for everyone, but I believe I was destined to be a teacher and be an impressional role model for the children of our future.
