Meet Nicholas

I am a UCONN Storrs graduate with 2 Bachelor's degrees in 4 years; Sociology and Plant Biology. I worked internships at elementary schools while attending college, before switching to more of my passion which is golf. I worked as an assistant superintendent, taking care of the grounds at several country clubs in CT, MA and NJ. After years of that work I began to desire a change so I focused on my first true labor skill set from high school which was screen printing and garment design. I still do this as my main career to this day as a second shift lead. However, I soon realized that 2nd shift allotted me quite a lot of free time before work, and being the type of person that never likes to waste hours, I started to look for a second income. My sister suggested babysitting and while I was a bit Read more skeptical at first, I ended up really enjoying it. For example, one family I worked for in Newtown was a newly divorced woman whose husband had just up and left the family. She was stuck raising 3 children all on her own... 2 girls 10 and 8 and a boy 11. Not sure if she hired me in hopes that it would help to have a male figure around the kids or not, but after a few weeks of realizing what I could bring to the table I dove in head first, so to speak, lol. Normal things were obviously to cook and clean for the kids, but once I got to bring them to their respective sporting events and such, something told me to do more than just drop them off and leave. Even though Kristen had reiterated that it wasn't necessary to stay, I actually enjoyed doing so very much... I mean the looks on their faces alone when they realized I was in the bleachers cheering them on was priceless and WELL worth it. I always felt that my father is literally THE BEST man in the world for all the love and support he gives my sister and I, so I was happy to jump at the opportunity to show those kids the same support. Plus I mean hey it was an excuse for me to spend hours in their driveway shooting hoops with them, teaching their son a few things here and there. Or to goof around with the girls and have them curling over in laughter when they would show me a gymnastics move and I would FAIL MISERABLY at attempting it. Anyway, I'm rambling, just wanted to paint somewhat of a picture of one of my most memorable babysitting jobs in hopes that it shows a bit of my character and skills in that regard.
