I have been drawn to caring for children from a young age. My "career" as a child caregiver began when I was around nine as a mother's helper. This consisted of going over for a few hours a day and watching a child (age 2) while his mother worked within their home. Around this age I also began working in my church's nursery (ages 0-3). I worked in the nursery almost (if not every) Sunday for the past 9 years, until I left for college. In addition, I have babysat on and off since I was around the age of 12 or 13. I have babysat for groups of as many as 13 children, ranging from ages 9 months to 12 years old. I have also worked as a Vacation Bible School leader for first graders for a couple of years. This past semester, I took an Early Childhood Education Read more class where I was given the opportunity to observe a first grade classroom and aid first graders in their learning. In my past childcare experiences I have been responsible for giving children snacks and meals at normal times throughout the day. I am capable of running errands, meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking. I am someone who is very organized. In both my work in school, and my day to day life, having a schedule and/or to-do list is important to me. I am hardworking, and I take the care of children seriously, as I am aware of the impact I will have on their lives. I am able to do light cleaning, such as children's laundry, vacuuming, and cleaning various surfaces.
