Hi! My name is Greta, and I just finished my first year at Connecticut College, where I study Human Development and plan to pursue pediatric occupational therapy. I currently work at the Connecticut College Child Development Lab School with children ages 2–3, where I support teachers in creating a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment. I spend a lot of time engaging with the children one-on-one and in groups through outdoor play, reading, and puzzles. A large part of my role is helping to guide the children with appropriate classroom behavior and ensuring that the children are cooperating with one another and treating each other with kindness and respect. My role also involves helping children move through their daily routines and transitions. Since my 18th birthday, I have also been working in a group home supporting adults with special needs. There, I assist them with their daily routines, encourage their independence and engagement in activities, and help them to achieve their goals. My style working with children is very patient and gentle. I attended Montessori school from kindergarten through 6th grade, and that experience still shapes the way I approach childcare today. My goal in working with the child is to nurture their innate curiosity by encouraging them to explore the world around them and pursue whatever captivates them. I love working with children and find it very meaningful to be a part of their learning and growth. I also find great joy in childlike wonder and play, and helping the kids have fun is an important focus of my job as a babysitter!
