Meet Rachel

I am currently enrolled in graduate school to be a therapist, and I plan to work with children and families when I start practicing. This fall, I am interning at a family development center on the West Side of Chicago, where I will provide therapy for children and families, among many other services. I recently volunteered at an elementary school on the South Side, and I loved it. I led social and emotional learning activities with the students, where we discussed values, feelings, goals, and healthy boundaries. During undergrad, I babysat for a family in Washington, DC and I thoroughly enjoyed building a relationship with them. My duties included school pickups, sport practice drop-offs, meal preparation, and responsibility reminders. I enjoy hanging out with youngins, and they enjoy hanging out with me! In my personal time, I like to play my Nintendo Switch and watch anime and other cartoons. Minecraft Read more is one of my favorite games to play on my Switch. I am currently reading Kindred by Octavia E. Butler, and just finished Parable of the Sower, also by Butler. I consider myself outgoing, introspective, witty, detail-oriented, and thoughtful. I currently work at a dispensary, and am in the process of phasing out so that I can focus more on school. I am looking to babysit regularly for one or two families. My general availability includes weekday/weekend date nights, and possibly extracurricular activity pickups/drop-offs. I am flexible and open to discussing some sort of schedule, or you can contact me as needed. I do not have a car, but I have a clean driving record and drive rented cars often. What makes me a good caregiver is my ability to be patient, fun, and understanding, yet direct and assertive when necessary.
