Growing up in a family and church filled with Educators, I surely thought that one day I would become a Teacher. After watching my mother receive her CDA and teach at several Child Care Centers , I knew I wanted to become more hands-on with the youth. While still in high school, I became a Teachers assistant through Summer Youth Employment Program, helping out with observing the children and little jobs as needed around the center. Being surrounded on a daily basis by this kind of environment is what made me want to become a caregiver. After high school I went to Virginia State University to major in Community Based Education. While in school, I mentored at surrounding elementary schools and worked in a few Child care centers. Although I loved what I did, I wanted to do it more often. Years down the line, a job fell into my Read more lap at a Summer Enrichment program for young women, where I educated and assisted with the social and academic development. I must say working there was very inspirational; not only did it open my eyes to the world, but it gave me the opportunity to help those further their education, gain confidence and know their self worth. I embody characteristics of a Caregiver: patience, compassion, attentiveness, dependability, trustworthiness, competent and caring.
