Hello! My name is Maile (pronounced My-lay). I am a former math teacher from Hawaii and I relocated to the East Coast upon receiving a fellowship at the Department of Education to work in education policy. I went to high school and college in Oregon where I held numerous child care and youth services (tutoring, after school programming, college prep, etc.) jobs throughout those 8 years with varying ages (1-18). I really enjoyed working with kids and so I knew that was the way I wanted to serve my community back in Hawaii. I taught for two school years and also coached cross country (although I played volleyball in college). In addition to yielding academic growth, my teaching experience in a Title I school has made me even more effective in knowing and meeting the needs of developing children.
