I am an educated, young professional who relocated to the Washington metropolitan area to serve on the staff for one of the city's most prestigious independent schools. I attended American University for my undergraduate studies and returned home to Atlanta for graduate school at Georgia State University. I have worked in marketing and communications for more than 10 years and served various nonprofit organizations, a state agency, and independent schools. In my spare time, I blog about my food adventures in the kitchen and around the city on my blog, The Dish With Kat. I have a great sense of humor, am dedicated, and have a lot of patience. This has gone far in helping me with babysitting, which I've been doing for more than half my life. I have experience working with children of all ages. I am not a proponent of screen time unless it's educational, so I Read more am creative with activities that will keep any child’s body active and mind stimulated. In addition to all of this, I have experience working with children who have been diagnosed with ADHD (both medicated and non-medicated) as well as children who face other developmental and physical challenges. I have previously been certified by the American Safety & Health Institute on CPR for adults, children, and infants, as well as AED use and basic First Aid. While my certification lapsed in October 2015, I am confident that I would be able to administer CPR in the event of an emergency. Because I work full-time, I am available Monday through Thursday from 5:30 pm to 12:00 midnight and later on Friday nights. If you live near Northwest D.C., it is possible I could start as early as 5:00 pm; I'd be coming from the Washington National Cathedral. I am quite flexible and openly available on Saturdays and Sundays. On the weekends, I am also available for overnight sitting if you are traveling or just need extra help around the house. I am willing to negotiate an overnight rate versus an hourly rate for overnight sitting. I am an organized and detail-oriented person who will keep the lines of communication open with parents about the children's progress. I would love to help you and your family with your childcare needs!

We hired Kathy for a date night, and she watched our 3.5 year old. She was pleasant, EARLY, and she got our daughter to bed right on time.

Kathy is fantastic! Highly recommended! She was very timely for her interview, came with great references, and was very prepared to discuss our needs. My daughter really enjoyed Kathy and they had a great time together. Kathy was also very reassuring to us while we were away. We look forward to working with Kathy in the future!

Kathy was on time, professional in her approach to asking questions about the kids and their different needs. She was knowledgable and even made them a great meal from scratch. We plan to ask her to sit for them again soon! S. N.

Kathy provided care for our 2 year old son and it couldn't have gone better. I knew from our first meeting (an initial interview) that Kathy was a professional, engaging woman who took childcare seriously. I very much appreciated her attentiveness. Mason met Kathy one day prior to their first evening together and he loved her. In fact, the entire day before she came to babysit for us, Mason kept saying, "Kathy coming over to play with me?" She fed him dinner, played all evening, and put him to bed. When we got home everything was spotless and quiet -- perfection. We look forward to working with Kathy again soon!

Kathy provided babysitting services for my 9-year old son. I LOVED her from the start. She was prompt (actually early), well organized and very nice. She came with a family profile sheet for me to complete, which indicated that she really took her job seriously. She also asked pertinent questions about Max's habits, schedule and allergies. Importantly, my son was very engaged and really liked her. Kathy is very professional, smart and engaging. My son is looking forward to having her as a sitter again.
