I have a lot of experience working with children both in a personal as well as professional settings. I find children an absolute job and adore being around them. I’m currently employed part-time at a children’s center working with children ages 6 months to 12 years old.

After receiving my RN in 1991 I worked in various aspects of nursing. Since I retired I have been sitting with a girl for the past 3 years, she is now age 9. I picked her up from school and we would do homework, chores and crafts together. I work for this family on an as needed basis at present. I am looking for a similar part time permanent job at this time.

Why do I love being a sitter? I genuinely love being a sitter because working with children has always come naturally to me. I enjoy creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where kids can learn, grow, and feel understood. I’ve grown up around younger siblings and cousins, so caring for children has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. What experience do I have? I have experience with children of all ages. I currently substitute teach across all grade levels, which has helped me understand a wide range of developmental stages and learning styles. I also used to mentor kids, giving me even more one-on-one experience supporting their emotional and academic growth. On top of that, I’ve always taken care of younger siblings and family members, which has given me years of hands-on experience in childcare. What skills and training do I have? I earned a technical diploma through a Teaching Academy program and completed multiple child development classes in high school. I’m also a licensed paraprofessional and CPR/First Aid certified. My training has prepared me to handle daily routines, learning activities, and unexpected situations calmly and confidently. Overall, I bring patience, creativity, and professional childcare training to every family I work with, and I’m committed to helping kids feel safe, supported, and excited to be themselves.

Hello my name is Karen, I recently moved to Delaware in Aug 2021 from Bucks County Pa. I am married and live in Dover, I have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. I have done alot of babysitting with friends children and my own grandchildren, I do prefer to babysit newborns to young toddlers. I do have alot of energy and love pets. My experience with babysitting/nannying as of right now I am working with a family and taking care of their son but I started when I was in the 5th and 6th grade when my aunt was running a at home daycare and I used to help her when I got out of school to entertain the kids and watch over them. When I got into middle school I started to watch my three cousins I still do until this day. When COVID hit and we had to do school online my cousin stayed with me and my mom for a month or two and i was responsible for helping her with her homework and waking her up on time so she could get on zoom.I used to also help my cousin watch a family friend of hers newborn baby and their young son. As the oldest sibling in my household, I have babysat my two younger siblings and younger neighbors since 2015.
