Long bio that’s worth the read if you’re looking for a top notch caregiver. I love kids and getting involved in what kids are doing - playing house, a backyard frog hunt, and cuddling sleepy newborns are just a few of those activities. I’m currently taking classes to become a Newborn Care Specialist. I'm a University of Delaware graduate and former social worker. I’m in Wilmington, DE and willing to travel up to 25 minutes. About my experience as a sitter: -16 years of experience with infants and toddlers, 10 years experience with teens -I have a sweet spot for newborns but have experience with all ages -I’ve been a first sitter outside of family members for many families -I am infant, child, and adult CPR certified -I have experience with children with a variety of differing needs (keeping track of hearing aids, speech delays, OCD, ADHD, nightmares) -I have Read more experience with infant twins -I’m comfortable with furry pets and small amphibians but not with snakes, spiders, or birds -I am comfortable with overnights -I have my own car My preferences with a family: -Consistent and open communication -Planning via text/messaging -Given no screen time instructions I prefer low/no screen time The obvious: -I will arrive and stay sober to watch your child (this includes not consuming nicotine or vaping) -I won’t eat your food -I will be on time -I will be awake the entire time, even during overnights -I will speak to your child with respect and kindness -Your child is my main focus We might not be a great match if… -You practice physical discipline -You yell at service providers -You criminally endanger children, housemates, or visitors Feel free to run a background check! You’ll find a few traffic violations (e.g. parking tickets) and nothing else. I have excellent references that are available upon request.

Leah babysat my kids, aged 12 and 7, for two weeks over the summer. She was with them every weekday for between 4 and 8 hours, and managed to keep them entertained and off their computer screens -- which is something of a miracle! She was very good at playing board games, drawing with them and taking them on short outings. Despite the fact that my 12-year-old son and my 7-year-old daughter have very different personalities, she managed to keep them both happy. She is a compassionate person who understands kids, and she is organized and competent.
