I am entering my Junior year of college, planning to earn a degree in Business. I began babysitting in middle school, caring for the infant son of a family friend until he reached third grade and they moved from our area. In high school I began sitting for a family with a two year old son, and not long thereafter his newborn baby brother. These were long term, ongoing jobs for me and taught me a lot about the importance of being on time, paying attention to details, caring for and entertaining children, and communicating with adults. Recently, I have babysat for the same family for about a year and a half. I chose to earn my Bright Future community service hours by completing an internship at St. Joseph's Hospital for Children in Tampa. I enjoyed interacting with the patients, thinking of activities they might enjoy individually or in groups, Read more meeting their families, and learning about special needs caregiving from the hospital staff. I liked it so much I returned the following summer as well. I am able to transport children from school /daycare to home, prepare simple dinners, assist with homework, and adhere to bedtime routines. I am flexible and easy going , but very organized. I respect the concerns that parents have in introducing a new caregiver into their children's lives , and welcome the opportunity to provide employers with references and a resume.
