In the US, I have babysitter a girl from when she was 6 mo to two years - I took care of her all day while her parents were working. Today they still call me to babysit her and her brothers sometimes at night. After that, I took care of a 6 years old boy for 1 year. I would pick him up from school and stay with him at home until his parents arrived from work. I have good references from both families. (I don't speak English very well - I'm learning)
