Hi my name is Stephanie! I started babysitting when I was 15 years old. I first started volunteering in a children's homeless shelter in Elizabeth, NJ. I would go to the homeless shelter three days a week for two hours each day. This homeless shelter had children between the ages of four to thirteen years old. I helped them with homework, I played with them, if they just wanted to talk about what was on their mind, I would always listen; sometimes that is just what the children need. Every time there was a holiday I would have a small party for them so they wouldn't feel alone. I had my friend dj the party and I had local restaurants donate food for them as well as presents. I volunteered in the homeless shelter for about 5 years, I stopped because I moved but once in a while when I would be in the area I would always stop by to visit. Although I had a full time job I still continued to babysit for my family and friends because I enjoy the company of these young lives challenging me in every aspect they can.
