I’ve been caring for children since I was fourteen, and four decades later it’s still the work that brings me the most joy. I earned my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida in 1996, then taught at the JCC in Maitland where I worked with infants through toddlers. My co-teacher and I supported their development through sign language, early communication skills, potty training, sleep routines and structured play. I’m a very hands-on caregiver. I love engaging kids in activities that spark curiosity, movement and imagination. Walks outside, sports, crafts, reading time, sensory play and age-appropriate learning are all part of my day. Families trust me because I’m consistent, mature, dependable and fully present with their children. I keep detailed daily notes that cover feedings, bottles, diapers, naps, medications, activities and any observations parents need to know. I have more than 40 years of experience with infants, toddlers Read more and young children, and I still adore every stage. Caring for kids isn’t something I do on the side, it’s been my life’s work, and I bring that dedication into every home I support. most important.

We have teenage kids and three dogs and we have had Melissa do many overnights for us to watch both the kids and the dogs while we have been out of town. She has been a wonderful addition to our family! She has helped with driving to and from school, homework, meal prep, dog care, laundry, and everything in between. We love that we can go out of town and know that our kids are safe and taken care of when Melissa is there. She has always been on time and very responsive whenever I’ve had questions. My daughter loves spending time with her and my dogs like her better than me.

Mel is very kind and caring. She's a natural with our 4 month old son. He suffers from GERD and oral ties, and it's important that his meds and routines be adhered to, and that things are low stress. Mel helps our son feel at ease and she follows every instruction to the letter. She has an early childhood development background so she is always working with him on his milestones. She also gives him baby massages and sings to him which helps him to relax. She shows up on time and sends updates via text. She checks on him even on days she's not caring for him to keep up to date and because she truly loves him and cares about his wellbeing. As first time parents, we were worried, naturally, about leaving our son but Mel very quickly put our hearts and minds at ease. 1 would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a very loving and reliable caregiver.
