As a Sociology major, I have grown in my understanding of working with children of different backgrounds and how to approach situations from a level-headed position. Working with children and being a part of their development has always been a highlight of my life, as I have worked as a tutor and babysitter and watched the children grow from these interactions in such unique ways. The first time I experienced this passion for working with children was when I would spend my lunches during elementary school tutoring and watching over a class of second-graders to support their teacher. I saw what a positive impact I was able to make by coming in and giving them the support that they needed but couldn't always receive because, as impressive as teachers are, they can't always individually support their students. I have worked for Teach of America as an Ignite Fellow, tutoring multiple Read more children to continue this work. I also took care of 11 kids last summer for a summer camp program and helped raise my little brother between the ages of 2-10.
