Hi, my name is Divya. I am receiving my bachelor's degree in psychology and business law from the University of Miami in a few months. I'm really excited to graduate, because this means I am closer to working in a field that I am very much passionate about. I've always wanted to work with children in one capacity or another ever since I was a kid myself. Playing with my little cousins and acting like a "role model" type to them always gave me a lot of confidence and joy throughout my childhood, and continues to do so today. Also, when I graduated middle school I began teaching tennis to little beginners, ages 3-7 years old. I had so much fun coaching kids at my tennis club, and watching them all interact together on the court as they looked to me for guidance throughout. I never found it stressful or Read more hard to look after so many young kids at once. It was always fun in my eyes and felt natural to me. When I graduated high school, and had to stop coaching in order to start college, the bittersweetness I felt was able to confirm my notion that I would work with children in some way again once graduating college. Alas, I have found my way back to doing what I love. I have hopes of receiving a Phd in children's developmental psychology. Upon completing this, I would then like to open up my own practice and work with children on a one on one level as a therapeutic psychologist or guidance counselor. I believe children have the ability to understand and grow in a way that us, as matured adults, often find difficult or quite simply undoable in some cases. I find this to be a beautiful thing about life and a time period that should be treasured in every child's life. Thus, it is important to nourish children during this critical time in their lives by providing them with positive, caring, and supportive people/environments. This allows children to be the happiest versions of themselves, and as a result, grow to be the best versions of themselves in the future. I hope to provide that type of environment to them and their family, as well as to provide some lighthearted fun and relief during the few hours I do spend with them. As far as activities go, I am willing to do what is necessary for any child to grow and have fun in a positive way. I also am an available school tutor for younger-middle aged students, and have a background in studio arts and can craft if of any interest. :) Thank you!
