I have worked with children for the majority of my life, starting with countless babysitting jobs beginning when I was 11 years old. I have babysat children ranging from infants to adolescents. I worked as a preschool teacher at a child care center for 7 years and then for 8 and a half years at a residential program for children with special needs and emotional and behavioral challenges. I have a bachelors degree in social work and currently work in the child welfare field. I like to keep children active and engaged and enjoy getting them into the community (parks, libraries, museums, etc.) whenever possible. I believe in structure and routine, but also knowing when to be flexible. I think it's important to limit children's "screen time" and instead to encourage their creativity and imagination and engage them in a variety of games, arts and crafts and outdoor activities, reading, Read more and to provide opportunities for social interaction with peers. I am looking for an evening and/or weekend babysitting position.
