I am a creative, engaging, highly energetic, and positive person. I am someone who very easily connects with people, especially children. I am the youngest of four children with a span of at least five years between myself and my siblings. I was a teenager when my oldest niece was born and I had the responsibility of providing child care for her on a consistent basis. Children have always been very drawn to me. I have a very genuine personality and a calming presence. My value structure includes putting children first, showing empathy, having integrity, consistency, and embracing diversity. I started babysitting when I was approximately 11 years old for family members and neighbors. I developed many independent living skills at a young age, due to my developmental level. I have the ability to establish rapport, build, and sustain healthy relationships with families. I continued providing child care while in college and even worked part-time at a local daycare center. I have also been employed by the City of Carbondale, Illinois Park District as a Cook/Assistant Teacher. I earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree, Social Work (BSW) and a Master's Degree, Social Work (MSW) with a concentration in children, youth, and families. I received training in health, communications, cognitive-behavioral therapy, service planning, working with children with special needs, and documentation. I have practiced at an advanced level for over 12 years. I have current certifications in CPR/AED, TACT2 therapeutic aggression control techniques, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I am currently employed as an Arts Instructor for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. I have developed and implemented creative programs and activities for children, which impact their Academic Success. I truly enjoy developing fun learning activities to actively engage children of all ages with various needs. I have been recognized and nominated for the employee of the quarter by my supervisor. I have also established and cultivated collaborations with the High Museum of Art Teachers and Education Services Department. I am a current member of the Art Access Program which encourages and promotes the use of cultural enrichment programs.
