Hi! My name is Ben, and I'm a second-year graduate student at UNC-CH looking to help some families out with childcare this summer! I have extensive experience taking care of children through 10+ years of summer camp counseling and multiple years of babysitting. I love working with children because they find joy in all things, are endlessly curious, enjoy opportunities to play, and are constantly growing and learning new things. They provide perspective and hope, and it excites me to be a part of facilitating their growth and development. As a caretaker, I am fun and energetic, and I enjoy conversing with kids to see what they are passionate about or interested in on a given day. I like to come up with games to play, and I am flexible in catering to each child's interests. When kids get upset, I approach with a calm and empathetic attitude. Depending on the situation, I will acknowledge their feelings, ask questions, provide solutions, and/or distract them with different activities. I also recognize that different parents have different styles of parenting. I aim to collaborate with the parent to make sure I am taking care of their child in the way that makes them most comfortable. All in all, I am excited to meet and support your family!
