Hello! My name is Grace Holmes and I am a college freshman at Georgia State. I have been interested in pursuing a degree in Social Work, mainly adolescence, considering I have been involved in child-based programs since the age of 15. During the summers of 2012-14, I began working as a camp counselor at my nearby park. I was assigned to the 4-6 year old age group with a 6:3 camper per counselor ratio. My job was to help them with small tasks and putting them into small groups to play games, such as relay races, octopus tag and musical chairs. Along with this, once a week the camp took a field trip to near by amusements and as the group counselor, I was to watch over 6 or more children at a time to myself in our designated play area. As counselors we also took our groups to the Read more community swimming pool two times a week, aiding the kids with their "floaties", swimwear, sunscreen, etc. Before we become counselors, we each took a CPR/First Aid class and received certifications and I am still liscenced today. In addition to being a camp counselor, I was able to obtain a babysitting job from a family who had children that attended the summer camp. I have been watching their 8 year old son and 12 year old daughter for over a 2 and a half years now, with no problems; they are very respectful and listen to what I as them to do according to their parents. Since working at the camp last year, I have been working at LAFitness in the KidsKlub watching members' children as they workout. I thoroughly enjoy being around children and would love to have an opportunity watching yours! Thank you for your time, Grace Holmes
