My first babysitting job was in 2019 when I was 15 years old. I remember it like it was yesterday - the kids I took care of were four and six, and the parents had gone on a date night. The kids and I drew, played, and watched TV. Later, I fed them, read them a bedtime story, and put them to sleep. After that, I babysat them once or twice more, as I couldn't drive and their house was a bit far. Since then, I have taken care of multiple children ranging from infants to 11-year-olds, and I simply love working with kids. Now, at 19 years old, I am attending the University of Georgia with a pre-med intent. Working with children, especially those with special needs, has been a driving force behind my decision to pursue a career in pediatrics. Being from Brazil, I am fluent in Portuguese, and having lived in Spain for 9 months, I am also proficient in Spanish. In addition to my babysitting experience, I worked as a private tutor for a 6th grader with ADHD for 6 months when I was a sophomore in high school. I assisted her with all subjects and ensured she was keeping up with her schoolwork. This experience has equipped me with the skills to work with children who have unique learning needs. Furthermore, I worked with a family who had two children on the autism spectrum, aged 6 and 12. I primarily focused on the 6-year-old, who required my undivided attention. I engaged him in activities designed to enhance his social and intellectual skills. I would pick him up from school and take him to enjoyable places such as the park, indoor playgrounds, and the pool. Through my efforts, he showed remarkable progress in his development from the time I started working with him until I left for college. This experience solidified my passion for working with children with special needs and inspired me to pursue a career in pediatrics. I have experience potty training children, which I understand can be a challenging and time-consuming process for parents. I am patient and understanding, and I can work with your child to help them achieve this milestone. I am willing to stay overnight if necessary and can cook small meals, help with homework, and tidy up. Additionally, I can drive the children to their activities or appointments. With my CPR training and certification, you can have peace of mind knowing that your children are in safe hands.
