Hello, my name is Shayla Selon. I am a 22-year-old college student attending the university of Georgia studying to become a speech-language pathologist, or an audiologist. In both children and adults I am CPR, first aid, and AED certified with Red Cross. I am a fun, playful, lovable young adult, who loves interacting with kids and has been told she has a great connection of children. My experience comes from shadowing and helping my grandma babysit my sister and cousins over the summer since I was 12 to 18. During my sophomore and junior of high school, I was in an early education class where there was a daycare with 2 to 4 years old I would interact with them three days a week. We would do different activities with them For example, we would go on the go outside on the playground, make art projects, helped them with their ABCs and counting. Since joining the site, parents have trusted me to watch their Two and four year old siblings. Occasionally, I also watch sisters that are five and 10 years old. Most recently I’ve been trusted take care of a six month old for the day and the allowed me to bring her to my apartment since the grandmother was at work, and the mother was traveling. I love the way their minds work. They are so smart and so intelligent at such a young age is very interesting. I will care and look after your children as if they are my own. I will actively report if anything happens and would love to be known of any allergies or any fears that they may have that prevent them from having good time under my care. I began my babysitting journey at 15, caring for two wonderful children during their parents' date night. Now at 20, I'm pursuing pre-med at the University of Georgia, inspired by my passion for working with children, especially those with special needs. My experience has grown tremendously over the years. I've worked with children of all ages – from a precious 6-month-old baby girl to energetic 11-year-olds. Last summer, I regularly cared for 8 and 9-year-old sisters, building a special bond while coordinating their activities. I also gained valuable experience with younger children, caring for a 3-year-old and his 1-year-old sister, and served as a camp counselor for children ages 5-11. One of my most rewarding experiences was working with a 6-year-old boy with autism, taking him to parks and pools, and seeing his remarkable development. Similarly, I tutored a 6th grader with ADHD, helping her stay on track with schoolwork. I'm CPR certified with a clean driving record and speak English, Portuguese (native Brazilian), and Spanish. I'm comfortable preparing meals, helping with homework, overnight stays, and can drive children to activities. I truly believe in creating fun, engaging experiences while maintaining the routines parents establish.

My first job I was a babysitter. I took care of two kids ages three and seven for five years, after they moved, I started teaching swim lessons at a local gym which I have been doing for almost six years. Most of my students have been twelve and under. Working with kids is a big passion of mine and I can’t wait to help your family!

I love babysitting because of two reasons, the first of which being that I love kids. The second is that I want people to feel safe with the person they leave their kids with, and I want to be able to be that person. I can clean, cook, care for pets, and drive (carefully).
