Hi! My name is Amelia and I am 28 years old and new to Kihei. During my day job, I work as an independent contractor on public health (mainly nutrition) international development projects, primarily implemented in Sub Saharan Africa. I have always loved looking after children. I love the joy and curiosity they bring to the everyday. I have been surrounded by kids my whole life — I have three young cousins (who are all grown up teens now!) and three young nieces (the youngest of which was born in June!); I have been in an “aunty” role since I was 8 years old! I have spent summers nannying both family members and for clients, and have experience as an after school camp and YMCA day camp counselor. I am happy to (and enjoy) pick up spaces, cook, and kind take on a more well rounded support role in the household. Hi, my name is Maya, I’m originally from Germany and moved to Maui in 2023. I live with my husband and my stepson (10 years old) in Waihee. I got my state-certified educator degree and my Bachelor in social work in Germany and I worked in a preschool (kids age 2-6) for over 6 years. I grew up in a big family (5 siblings and lots of cousins) what lead me to my job as a preschool teacher. I have lots of experience with kids different ages and love supporting and attending them to become an independent and confident person. I’m patent and calm but also energetic and adventurous. I grew up as the eldest child in a large family. From a young age I was babysitting my younger siblings regularly. Friends of my parents noticed I had a knack for it and that I was intuitively good with children so I then started to be hired for the occasional babysitting job. I've worked with infants as well as older children. I am first aid and cpr certified. I am currently enrolled in school for classical realism painting so I can teach advanced art skills to older children. I also am very active and love being outside. I cook good nutritious meals. And most importantly I love having fun and communicating with children. I also enjoy the caretaking of younger children that involves feeding, changing, and cleaning etc. It is something that comes naturally to me and I like knowing I am doing something good for another human being in this world.
