Meet Kimberly

I am a local woman who was born and raised in Hawaii by two working parents who were married for 48 years before my father's death 2 years ago. I went to a Catholic elementary school and graduated from The Kamehameha Schools on Oahu,( a private boarding school). I have a BA in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I have a lifetime of experience in babysitting, raising, and working with children beginning at the age of 11 when I learned how to care for my infant brother. With two working parents, I spent most of my summers in complete charge of his care. I didn't mind because I loved teaching him things, especially the fun stuff like swimming and diving, rollerskating, and biking. I Raised two children as a single mom. I loved teaching them too, and not just the fun stuff. I taught them how to Read more cook, clean, and wash clothes at an early age. I raised them to be independent, self reliant, responsible and respectful individuals. As adolescents, each of them were recognized as especially mature and outstanding in character and accomplishments by the adults in the community. I could go on endlessly bragging about how amazing they were and still are as adults. That is just a mother's pride. But that is exactly how excited I get about helping any child or person develope into the best possible person they can be. I can do this with the skills I have in listening, understanding and empathy, effective communication - written and verbal, patience, persistence, and kindness. I have some specialized training and education for working with children that have physical, emotional, and mental disabilities. I also have experience working with youth that are considered troubled or at risk.
