Right out of high school, I went into the Army as a combat medic. have been fortunate enough to work at several facilities surrounded by children. During my junior year of high school, I was a nanny for 2 elementary-aged children. Working in my town's church nursery and providing before and after school child care has allowed me a chance to develop more on a professional level, as well as interact with children from all backgrounds. I spent the summer of 2014 in New Orleans working with a non-profit organization called the United Saints Recovery Project which helps people get back into their homes after Hurricane Katrina as well as at Villalobos Rescue Center. I have been in AmeriCorps doing various jobs throughout the United States for a total of 18 months. I spent 6 weeks in Denver teaching 6th grade, as well as providing occasional care for homeless children. Read more I also was given the chance to work with disabled children and teach sports, as well as give them a chance to develop new skills with the National Sports Center for the Disabled. In 2015, I was fortunate enough to have a chance to work at Arkansas Children's Hospital for 13 weeks. I spent most of time with the infants and toddlers offering parents a much needed break, activities for the little ones and lots of cuddles as well as worked on the neuroscience floor with children who had seizures, brain injuries and Autism and the rehabilitation floor where I worked with kids recovering from car accidents and strokes. I recently graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I work for a local preschool and spend my free time with my dog.
