Hello! My name is Melanie and I’m super passionate about caring for the well being of children and ensuring they have a safe, fun, and positive environment while in my care. For the past 20 years, I’ve been a working mom of four kids: two girls who are now 20 and 18 and two boys who are 16 and 14. From 2010-2013, I was a State of Illinois licensed family child care provider where I provided care for families with children ages zero-13–years old. During that time, I attained more than a 100 continuing education credits in early childcare and was Vice President of the McLean County Family Child Care Association. While I’m not current on my CPR and First Aid certifications, I’ve taken the classes multiple times. I am a believer in play-based learning and that children should be given opportunities to have undirected, creative play and time outdoors Read more to discover nature and get physical activity. I also love pets - all of them! I can successfully handle pet sitting and household tasks while I’m caring for your children as well. I am still a working mom and am not available Monday through Friday from 8-430. However, I’m available for part time evenings, very early mornings, or weekends for part-time care. My education: I have a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Masters in Communication. My final project for my M.S. degree was studying the communication methods between child care providers and parents and what affect they had on their engagement and outcomes for their children.
