Child care is close to my heart. As a single mother, I felt the anxiety of finding the right daycare provider and wondering if my child is safe. I dealt with the frustrations when the sitter was not dependable, cancelling last minute, creating friction at work. I have been in your shoes, wondering how I can financially provide for my family in a crazy world where I am afraid to leave my boy with a stranger so I can work full time. I think every parent should have someone that will care for their children as well as they do in their absence. Children deserve to feel safe and loved when they are away from their parents. I was part of the 1-1 Mentor program in Champaign during the 2017-2018 school year, and I have been part of a Respite program with Lutheran Family Services as a caretaker.
