Hello, my name is Mariah Alvarez. I am thirty one years old. I am a full-time SECA (Special Education Classroom Assistant) working for CPS (Chicago Public Schools). Before I started my CPS career, I worked for several years as a nanny for two amazing families who I still keep in touch with! I have experience with special needs and medical needs. I also have a younger sister (23 years old) who has special needs. Through caring for her is where my love and passion grew with wanting to work in special education. She is my muse and the reason why I chose working in Special Education. I have experience with all age groups! I like to dedicate my time to being of service to children/people who need help. Mariah worked for me as a nanny for 4.5 years from 2015-2020 for my premature newborn son with medical issues including tube feeding and then my other preemie baby as well. She became a part of our family and was reliable, committed, and empathetic. Mariah attended doctors appointments, multiple versions of support therapy sessions, and helped formulate appropriate educational opportunities for the children. Even though she is no longer working for us full time, we still call on her for help with childcare and our children all affectionately call her Mema.

Mariah was our full time nanny for several summers. She is wonderful! We have two special needs kids and she taught them to read, worked with them on their therapy goals, and took them on fun outings. She is amazing and I highly recommend her!
