Thus far, I have served as a mentor, counselor, educator and caretaker to children. As a volunteer, I have ample experience with kids; I volunteered with pre-schoolers with special needs for a year, teaching them, playing with them, reading to them, and generally supervising them. I also worked for three years in a temporary shelter for 1 month-7 year olds, feeding them dinner, getting them ready for bed and tending to their physical and emotional needs. To illustrate my dedication, I recently developed a program idea to reduce violence, behavioral disorders, and poor school performance by integrating art, music, and writing in therapeutic settings for Chicago youth.
