As the oldest of six kids with two hardworking and busy, parents, I have always taken on the role of The Caregiver... I began babysitting my siblings for extra allowance money at 14 (2004) and then started my own babysitting circle for mothers in my tight-knit neighborhood community at 15 (2005-2008). During this time, I cared for anywhere from 2-7 children between the ages of 8 mo. to 12 years old at a time. In 2008, during my first year at Columbia College, I became a year long live-in nanny for a 2 year old twin girls of single mother and loved every minute of being apart of their lives - we still keep in touch to this day! Other experience working with children include: assistant coaching Little League soccer for the park district in my hometown (2007-2011), working as a "Professional Role Model" (Youth/Camp Worker) for the YMCA's summer Read more youth programs (2012-2016), and working as a daycare leader and children’s yoga instructor (2016-2020). I am very active and love getting children involved in fun, age appropriate, indoor and outdoor activities - arts & crafts, reading, soccer, tennis, basketball, bike riding, swimming, trips to the park, you name it! I value patiently taking the time to provide children with essential opportunities to learn and practice the social-emotional, problem-solving, and academic skills that they will use throughout their lives. I love to get my littles involved in reading, puzzles, and educational games as well as finding out what they're learning in school and providing homework help. My background in children's yoga has helped further my understanding of childhood developmental stages from age 2-17 and how the issues of each stage impact what is appropriate for teaching and learning with them. It has helped me to nourish creativity by honoring a space for kids to express themselves. My younger yogis engaged in fun, inspirational classes that encourage their natural thirst for knowledge. Older little yogis were taught to improve strength, flexibility, and coordination as well as learn how to focus and center themselves with various breathing and visualization techniques. I am more than happy to assist with other tasks around the house that may or may not be directly related to childcare - chores, meals, etc!
