First and foremost, I love kids. Always have! I come from a family of passionate educators, and love to learn in addition to educating when given the opportunity. I am an avid lover of the arts, both visual and performance. My passions include cooking, as well as exploring different cultures through food and travel. Last summer, I returned to Chicago (my hometown) from Italy, where I studied viniculture for 2.5 years. While abroad, I also worked as a house manager/nanny for a beautiful Italian family in Florence. During my stay, I also earned certifications in wine and food pairing and wines of Italy through Wine Spectator. I am bilingual (English/Italian) and love learning different languages. Working as a childcare provider in both the States and Europe has provided me with a well-rounded, versatile, and cultured approach to childcare--all while remaining down to earth. I firmly believe that it is crucial for children to be exposed to cultures different from their own, as it affords them the opportunity to better understand the part they play in creating a more openminded and accepting world. Knowledge of oneself and the world we live in is fundamental to the rearing of responsible, well-adjusted adults. While I myself am an exceptionally creative free spirit, I was raised with a family of educators who taught me the value of structure, as well as the power it holds. I pride myself on striking the balance between encouraging freedom of expression and respect for boundaries. The world is so big, and there is much we can learn from each other.
