During the school year I am a Montessori teacher assistant for five 4th and 5th grade classrooms in a Chicago Public School. I teach reading and math to small groups of children and provide social emotional and art instruction to each of the five classrooms. I just finished up my first year of course work toward obtaining a Master of Social Work degree. I am a student at Erikson Institute and my social work courses specialize in child development and families. During the past several summers I have worked as a summer camp instructor and manager. I taught art camp with various themes to children ages 4 to 11. I also taught culinary arts to 11 to 13-year-old students. I really enjoy spending my summer teaching more specialized curriculum. I am hoping to instruct a smaller group this summer as a seasonal nanny. While I currently teach 9-12-year-olds, I spent Read more many years teaching preschool. I have experience writing curriculum for and instructing infants, toddlers, and 3 - 4-year-olds in both Montessori and more traditional preschool settings. I love children of all ages and work to meet each child where he or she is. I have fun acting silly and being adventurous with the children in my care. I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring the many amazing attractions in Chicago. I am passionate about partnering with families in order to provide optimal care for each individual child.
