I am an experienced youth development Programs Manager and who is seeking challenging summer opportunities I’ve seen the impact that a like-minded, passionate, and prepared group of people can have on urban youth and believe in their potential. I am a fun loving, results and community driven individual that firmly believes in empowering the community by sparking their passions, while using innovative programing to build consistent and positive relationships amongst the youth. I have loved every minute of working with the under-resourced communities in the Chicagoland and Southern California areas, and have over 6 years of experience working with urban and at-risk youth. I have been greatly impacted by the relationships I have formed with the students and families I have worked with. From receiving happy high fives from students in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood after a week of programing, to watching community leaders and volunteers invest to break the barriers Read more of poverty in Nicaragua, India, and Haiti. Interactions and experiences such as these have given me a greater value of community and changed the very way I live my life. I am currently finishing up a BA in Peace, Justice and Conflicts Studies at DePaul University while working part-time as a Site Director for Apollo After School. For four and a half years I worked with Triple Threat Mentoring. They are a non-profit committed to empowering the community to share their passions and leave their legacy, all while providing the highest quality afterschool programs and events for under-resourced youth. They believe that relationship is the most powerful tool you can offer a child to escape poverty. Since they launched in 2007, they have worked with over 35,000 students. Most recently, I've had the opportunity to travel to New York City to work with over 300 coaches and almost 3000 students in preparation for Nike’s basketball league launch. I helped create and facilitate large scale character, confidence, and team building exercises for local NYC coaches and youth. I have also facilitated programing for refugee youth with World Relief for the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) in Aurora Illinois. In September of 2016, I traveled to Haiti and created two weeks of athletic programming for youth living in Port-au-Prince for Haiti Partners.
