Hi there! My name is Amira, and I’m currently earning my Master’s in Public Policy at UIC. I’ve always loved working with children and advocating for their well-being. I have hands-on experience volunteering with young children at The Children’s Place Association’s Early Learning Center, where I helped create a safe and engaging environment for children to learn and play, while also deepening my understanding of child development. As the oldest of four in a family of six, caring for children has been a natural part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I watched my mother dedicate herself to teaching elementary-aged children in our community the Arabic language, which inspired my own love for educating and creating supportive spaces where children can engage, explore, and thrive. With my youngest sister now 14, I’ve had years of experience supporting kids through every stage of growth. Before Read more graduate school, I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology and worked in behavioral health settings as a social services coordinator, which strengthened my patience, communication, and care skills. I’m originally from Northwest Indiana, and recently moved to Chicago this past summer. I’ve loved exploring this beautiful city I now call home! I am passionate about creating safe and supportive environments where children can freely express their curiosity and creativity. In my free time, I enjoy long walks along the lakefront, yoga, and reading. My long-term goal is to work as a policy researcher for Save the Children, taking my passion for child well-being to an international level. I’m excited to meet you and your little(s)! 💕
