I love children! They bring me so much joy. Their endless vigor, excitement, and vivacity is inspiring, and building friendships with them is an absolute gift. I have worked with children since the age of 12, when I began babysitting for neighboors. Since then, I have cared for children from ages 3 months to 11 years as a nanny and babysitter. I lived in New York City in college, where I worked with children part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer. I worked for many families and interacted with children of all ages and backgrounds. I was also lucky enough to work for two families with special needs children, which was an invaluable and deeply rewarding learning experience. I recently moved to Chicago and am hoping to find similar work in this lovely city. I used to work as a camp counselor in high school, working specifically Read more with children ages 9-12. I was lucky enough to also be a "special cares" counselor one summer, and work one-on-one with autistic and disabled children, bonding especially with a child with Asperger's Syndrome. I was also able to work at an orphanage in South Africa, cooking and cleaning for the children, playing games with them, and organzing arts and crafts sessions in the afternoons. I love animals and have two dogs of my own, so caring for your pets will not be a problem! If you put your children in my care, I promise to give them all my love, attention, and energy.

I interviewed Emma, spoke with her references, and thought we had found a great caretaker for our child. During the first week, Emma was consistently late, a bit frazzled, and seemed overwhelmed. She texted in sick on a Thursday, after she was already late, and left us high and dry for Thursday and Friday. After trying to confirm hours for the upcoming week, I received an email Sunday evening, that she was quitting. Effective immediately. One of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had with a care giver.
